10/10/11


So yesterday my brother mentioned to me that we should do the Yakima River Canyon Marathon.  At first I thought.  YES sign me up, after all since having Ewan my brother has suggested several different runs that I have participated in.  The first was a 12k,  that I walked and jogged through pushing Ewan in his stroller, then came the 10k Dirty Dash, followed by the 5k Warrior Dash.  Each pushed the boundaries of what I thought I could physically do, but with the support of my brother and my family I did them.  So of course I said yes.  Then I thought to myself... exactly how far is a marathon, and what did I agree to?!?!

So this marathon is 26.2 miles.  It needs to be done in under 7 hours.  So I started having second thoughts about the whole thing.  But after some words of encouragement from Cielo I decided that this is a good goal. So I have 173 days to get ready to walk/jog/run a marathon.  So I thought to myself I need a training schedule and new shoes.  Propelling myself that far no matter how fast (or slow) I go, I need some really good shoes.  I also need to get out there and exercise.  Cielo and I are going to hold each other accountable.  He already came up with a training schedule.  Goal one for tomorrow is 1 mile.  I can do that. I figure baby steps and consistency is the key.  Plus I am looking forward to the benefits of consistent exercise.
